Becoming Sigmund Freud: what other areas really need IT specialists today

Let's discuss where you can try yourself in the role of Freud, how an American company has made the process of conducting genetic tests more convenient, and which Russian meat factory has become completely robotized
Previously, we wore virtual reality glasses only to defeat the enemy in the world of video games or on VR attractions — to find ourselves in a completely different dimension without leaving the place.

A couple of years ago, the participants of the experiment at the University of Barcelona put on VR glasses for the first time to consult themselves during virtual psychotherapy sessions, and American programmers invented a service that allows you to conduct genetic tests on saliva samples sent to the company by express delivery — no blood, no needles. Brave new world?

No, this is the reality in which we live in the 21st century. In this article, we will tell you what other industries are actively requiring IT specialists today, in addition to the giants of modern technologies already familiar to us.

As Freud once said...

The virtual reality laboratory is located on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology of the University of Barcelona. Here the participants of the experiment told about their psychological experiences on a video camera, then put on VR glasses and tried themselves as psychotherapists, using the images of world experts in the field of psychology.
The results showed that the most productive consultations appeared when the participants "became" Sigmund Freud: apparently, the reason was that they felt the most confident and competent this way.
This is not the only experiment that is being conducted within the walls of the university laboratory: depressive symptoms, prevention of arachnophobia, as well as strategies for improving the treatment of anorexia are also being studied here. Reducing anxiety and improving mental health are areas that are currently being actively developed in digital psychotherapy.
So, there are more and more services dedicated to the practices of meditation and relaxation — including one of the most popular smartphone app Calm, and its analogues.

The American company 23andMe is engaged in conducting genetic research. The company's website says, not without pride, "we have simplified the process so now it is convenient for you." Now everything has really become extremely simple — the client receives a small suitcase with a tube for taking a saliva sample: no more tests are required, no blood collection, no needles.
There is a barcode on each tube that the client needs to register online — the results of each patient will not be lost or confused with each other.
After that, express delivery takes the tube back to 23andMe. After conducting all tests required, the company lets the patient know their results are available in online account.
Healthcare is also actively transferring many of its work processes online: and now we are talking not only about electronic cards with patient medical histories and online records to the right specialist in the clinic, as well as services and solutions that help in cancer research, telemedicine and other industries.
The Yandex project "Yandex Health" and the American service American Well are connected with telemedicine. Telemedicine services (or, in other words, remote medical consultations) allow doctors to contact the patient remotely, without the need for face-to-face presence.
IoT in this area is being transformed into IoMT-the Internet of medical things. IoMT is a network of medical devices with an Internet connection and data exchange among themselves.

This allows you to observe the dynamics of the patient's condition remotely, regularly receiving up-to-date information about their condition, assess the risks and possible deterioration of vital signs, and vice versa, predict their improvement.

Fertilizers, sausages and robots

The economic sector is also turning to the help of IT more and more often: solutions for agricultural complexes make it possible to calculate the amount of fertilizers required for a specific soil area (it is very pleasant not to lose a huge amount of crop due to an incorrectly calculated dose of fertilizers, isn't it?), as well as to optimize the processes for crop production.
Finally, let's talk about something pleasant — food, to be more precise :) If the appeal to modern technologies of automobile productions and related industries occurred long ago, the food sector has been desperately trying to keep up in recent years.
In Kashira there is a factory belonging to the Cherkizovo group of companies — one of the leaders of the meat industry in Russia. Founded in 2018, it has already shown a great result, becoming the first robotized factory in the Russian Federation.
Only 150 people can be found at the factory (all other processes are completely robotic) today, while the number of employees required for such factories is about one thousand approximately.
The owners claim that the experiment with a factory producing monoproduct (Kashira specializes in the production of raw smoked sausages) has fully justified itself — so they are opening two more robotic monofactories soon.
It seems that there is no sphere now that digitalization would not affect at least a little bit. Companies are actively getting more digitized to be more up-do-date and adapt to today's technological world — and the demand for IT specialists is growing. Even industries that we could hardly imagine in a digital format just a few years ago are looking for new ways of development, so they need programmers, developers and testers.
Lucky Hunter will select cool IT specialists of any profile for your company — contact us so that we can start the search as soon as possible:)
