Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Network Specialist dedicated to optimizing and maintaining our network infrastructure, focusing on low latency communication between various AWS regions and cryptocurrency exchanges. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of network engineering, particularly within AWS, and have a track record of developing innovative solutions to reduce latency and enhance performance. Experience in the crypto HFT landscape will be considered a significant advantage.
This role is pivotal in maintaining a competitive edge in the high-frequency trading space, ensuring network infrastructure supports ultra-fast and reliable data transmission.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously optimize network paths between AWS regions, availability zones, and various global cryptocurrency exchanges to ensure low latency and high availability.
  • Design and maintain a dynamic framework for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing network latency, including automated adjustments based on real-time data to maintain optimal performance.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and performance benchmarking to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for latency reduction across all network layers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand data flow requirements and ensure network infrastructure aligns with high-frequency trading strategies and operational needs.
Qualifications:
  • Deep Knowledge in Network Engineering: The candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and TCP/UDP. They should be able to explain the fundamental workings of these protocols and their use cases.
  • Latency Analysis and Optimization: Proficiency in analyzing and optimizing latency is crucial. The candidate should understand the factors affecting latency and be capable of optimizing network performance accordingly.
  • SSL Handshake and Security: Knowledge of how the SSL handshake works and understanding potential latency bottlenecks related to SSL connections is important for ensuring secure and efficient communication over the network.
  • TCP Handshake and Congestion Control: Understanding the TCP handshake process and differences in TCP congestion algorithms is necessary for managing network congestion and optimizing throughput.
  • AWS and Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, Transit Gateway, and DirectConnect is essential. The candidate should be able to design secure VPN setups and compare network providers within AWS regions.
  • Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Proficiency in monitoring network latency, execution latency, and using tools like Prometheus for histogram-based monitoring is required. The candidate should also be familiar with kernel optimizations for low latency and packet steering techniques.
  • Hardware Offloads and Kernel Bypass Solutions: Knowledge of hardware offloads like kTLS, SmartNICs, DPUs, and kernel bypass solutions is beneficial for optimizing network performance in cloud environments.
  • Linux System Administration: Familiarity with Linux system administration, including understanding processes, threads, context switching, and system scheduler, is necessary for troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Bonus Skills: Experience with Kubernetes, CNIs, and Ansible is a plus, demonstrating the candidate's ability to work with containerized environments and automate network configurations.
